Anybody who dealt with our company knows that Jawor-Parkiet is a family business present in the market since 1991. This year, as part of celebrating our jubilee, we have approached three exceptional illustrators, each representing a different generation.
As a result, the artists created 4 very interesting portraits of our company. Each of the illustrations is different and special. What they have in common is that they all focus directly on Jawor-Parkiet’s business.
Andrzej Pągowski - a graphic artist, author of numerous portraits and murals, graphic designer, author of more than 1500 posters for theater plays, movies, arts festival and singing contests. His work is featured in the collections of, among others, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and San Francisco, as well as the Center Pompidou in Paris. The Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art placed one of his posters, Uśmiech Wilka (Wolf’s Smile), among the top 100 modern art works in the collections of the MoMA.
Bartosz Zaskórski - a visual and sound artist, illustrator, author of audio dramas, music albums and computer games. In the music industry he is known as Mchy i porosty. He creates sad electronic music. His illustrations depict all that is potentially scary and terrifying. He creates his works with a fineliner, which allows him to create amazingly intricate pictures.
Bolesław Chromry – an illustrator, author of graphic novels, painter, graphic designer, copywriter, author of covers and posters. All his works focus on the contemporary Poland and are set in the present time or the near future. This artist is especially appreciated for the universal nature of his works. In his works, he explores what is funny and irritating to most of the Polish society.
Artists comment their works:
Andrzej Pągowski: My jubilee illustrations portray mother nature. Jawor-Parkiet is seated in the Warmia and Masuria region, which is famous for its beautiful nature. Jawor-Parkiet’s products draw on nature, as well. This is why in my illustrations I wanted to show mother-nature who, for me, is a beautiful woman. Jawor-Parkiet takes the nature’s products and professionally moves them into our homes. The colors used include a full range of greens and browns, which are typically associated with nature, with the tree rings symbolizing the passing of time and the natural origin of the products. In both illustrations I included a subtle allusion to the company’s Polish identity. In the background of one of the works, I included a reference to the two-layer structure of the company’s products.
Bartosz Zaskórski: My illustration depicts a tree. The tree is haunted by a ghost. The ghost is a sort of my signature, it haunts most of my works. It is a happy ghosts, who offers support and understanding, not only to those who are interested in having an oak parquet flooring. The original picture is small – it is A5 size – which is the page size I usually draw on.
Bolesław Chromry: The first thing that came to my mind when I heard the word “Jawor” (eng.sycamore) is my neighbors’ dog, who has the same name. I assume they named it like that because of its hair which is the color of a parquet flooring. Unfortunately, this association would be clear only for me. So I decided to stick with nature theme and give the floor to acorns, which have been dominated in culture by the omnipresent chestnuts. This is their time.
Soon, the artists’ works will be displayed in Jawor-Parkiet’s showrooms.
