Polish Wooden Floors Go to China

Presentation in Shanghai
A day before the Domotex Asia Fair in Shanghai, the brand was presented to leading distributors. Distributors of the Jawor-Parkiet brand on the Chinese market were especially warmly invited. Floors from Warmia have been exported for more than 25 years and export is responsible for 70% of the whole production. Jawor-Parkiet is presented on 16 target markets — in Europe, North America, and Asia. The present objective is different — it is about building a strong brand abroad. ‘We have had 30 distributors only in China since 2018. Our ambition is to become a global brand,’ says Grzegorz Sadowski, Commercial Director at Jawor-Parkiet. ‘European products enjoy popularity and trust in China. We are using this trend and stress the high quality of our products, which are made on one of the most advanced production lines in Europe. Unique collections also matter, which are a combination of modern design and local craft,’ adds Grzegorz Sadowski.

70 to 30
This manufacturer of wooden floors has raised his standards every year in his market share both for standard and premium collections. In 2018, he recorded the increase by 30% in the latter ones. ‘We are reacting to the needs of the market quickly; we are extending our offer, adding new variants to collections, for example the Maxi board in the Luxury and Design Experience products’, enumerates Grzegorz Sadowski. The company has created the environment that is conducive to sales for years — through the network of more than 300 points of sale all over Poland, the collaboration with architects, the presence on the largest industry fairs and sectoral competitions. Because, in order to be reliable on the global market, your activities in Poland have to be successful as well.

Changes in the East
In terms of export trends of floors, the last decade saw mostly boards and parquets in natural colours: light and whitened. According to sales results of Jawor-Parkiet, the change in preferences is major, because end customers are more and more interested in darker, brown, and even black floors. The analysis of the firm indicates that premium floors are enjoying considerable popularity. The best-sellers on the Chinese market include Retro and Chevron collections as well as special collections of floor made of exotic timber.

American Dream on the Horizon
Poland is a dynamic European market. With the GNP growth above 4% (according to Eurostat for Q4 2018, the growth was at 4.6%) Poland is among leaders of the Old Continent. At the same time, our country has been a leader of wooden floor production for years, with more than 19% share in the European market (according to the report of the European Federation of the Parquet Industry FEP). Layer floors have enjoyed immense popularity for years, with the present share in production at 81%. Such data, correlated with forecasts of the Institute of Economic Forecasts and Analyses (IPAG) that anticipate the growth of import (in Q1 2019 by 7.2%) and in 2019-2020 the stable excess of import over export growth, are the basis for optimistic plans for further directions of international development of Polish business, including for Jawor-Parkiet. ‘We have dropped our anchor in America already. It is time to conquer it now,’ says Grzegorz Sadowski.
